Scan-to-BIM sits between two trades: the people who capture buildings and the people who design on them. AutoIFC serves both, and the owners who pay for the result.
Surveyors and scanning companies
Deliver the model with the scan, not three weeks later.
Modelling a facade by hand from a cloud takes a technician a day or two per building, and it is the slowest, least billable part of the job. AutoIFC produces the proposal in minutes; your technician reviews instead of draws.
The scoring tool is built for you: give it your own reference model and it tells you, class by class, how far the proposal is from what you would have delivered. Adopt it where the numbers say yes.

Architects on existing buildings
Start the renovation from the facade as built.
Retrofit, extension, change of use: the first drawing is always the existing elevation, and it is usually redrawn from photos and a tape. A scanned facade gives you every opening in its real position, as IFC entities your authoring tool understands.
You review the proposal in the viewer against the cloud, fix the two windows behind the tree, and import. The model carries its confidence and whether it was measured per element, so you know which ones to look at on site.
Facade and energy engineers
Opening ratios and areas from measurement, not estimates.
Energy audits, facade replacement and overcladding all start with the same numbers: glazed area, wall area, opening count per orientation. Today those come from plans that predate the last refurbishment, or from a walk-around.
From a scan, AutoIFC gives the openings as measured boxes in metres. Sum them, and the window-to-wall ratio of the facade is a fact rather than a guess. Where it could not be measured, the element says so, and you decide.
- Boxes in metres in the facade's own frame; sizes and positions are numbers you can export.
- Per-element confidence and a measured verdict on each box.
- Vents and unclassified openings kept as their own class, never forced into "window".
BIM managers and asset owners
A portfolio of facades, one per run, one price per square metre.
Housing associations, campuses and municipalities hold hundreds of buildings with no usable model. Modelling them by hand is a budget line nobody approves; modelling them per square metre, from scans you already commission, is one you can plan.
Every run leaves an IFC with stable GUIDs, a report and the evidence it was built from. The API takes a batch, the ledger tells finance what each building cost.

What AutoIFC does not do in version 1.
Interiors: rooms, floors, ceilings, MEP. The pipeline is built around a facade plane and its depth; interiors need a different frame and are on the roadmap, not in the product.
Roofs and terrain: a terrestrial scan rarely sees a roof well, and terrain is another product's job.
Cornices, canopies, mullions: the reference models we score against contain them; no detector is wired yet, so they are absent from the IFC and counted as misses on the Accuracy page. Railings and plinths are read.
If your buildings are mostly one of the above, AutoIFC is not the right tool today. Write to us anyway; the roadmap follows what people ask for.
